Located in a luxurious nature and game reserve, we were approached to be part of a team of creatives tasked with giving the game reserve a repurposed look and feel. With the reserve under new management, the client’s objective on the project was to attract as many visitors as possible to the revamped venue. We were given an old house that sits on the highest point in the estate, with views of the entire reserve. This house used to belong to the reserve owner some years ago and we were to convert and repurpose this old structure into an eco-boutique hotel. The architectural language fits into the estate’s natural setting. The design responds to the local vernacular, offering a South African contemporary style with simple forms and contemporary interiors.
“Good Designs tend to be identified as timeless artefacts, durable and reliable by the population and they shall be equally easier to maintain.
Good Architectural design must, for me, satisfy these elements: Sustainability & Green design, Scale & Proportion, Hierarchy, Sense of Place and Contextual appreciation” – Q. Lerotholi
